TRIP CBD review: Does it really work? (2024)

If you can see past their trendy lifestyle ads you will find an ineffective product that is more placebo than CBD.

CBD has become very trendy in recent years, but is it a complete fad? Well, I’ve been testing out TRIP drinks and oils to find out for myself. In this comprehensive TRIP CBD review, I’ll walk you through my personal experiences with their products, delving into the claims and credibility behind their products.

You may benefit from finding out about the state of my health and well-being. I am a 29-year-old female with depression, anxiety and many a phobia. I’m also pretty certain that I am autistic and so suffer from regular meltdowns.

I’ve had some positive experiences using CBD in the past, but TRIP has fallen short of expectations. Continue reading to find out why!

Disclaimer: I have recently updated this review. Initially, I had a somewhat positive experience with their CBD. But it stopped working within a month. After doing some in-depth research into CBD and chatting with an expert in the world of hemp, I discovered that TRIP contains CBD isolate. Great for topical use, but pretty pointless for ingesting (read the science). Therefore, all I was experiencing was a short-lived placebo.

What is TRIP?

TRIP is a wellness lifestyle brand that sells a range of CBD products, including sparkling drinks and CBD oils. All TRIP CBD products, including their drinks and oils, are completely legal. This is because they only contain CBD and no THC. This means you won’t get high from consuming their products, nor will you get arrested.

My experience: The pros

Now you know a little bit more about the brand, let me take you through my own positive experiences with their products.

The drinks are refreshing

If you enjoy drinking soft drinks and you are after a healthier alternative that still tastes good, then you’ll enjoy TRIP’s CBD drinks. I enjoy all three flavours and find them to be light and refreshing.

They are perfect for a sunny day in the park or as an alcohol-free alternative at a party.

It is handy that they can be found in Boots and at Holland & Barrett. Allowing you to pick up one of these instead of a sugary soft drink. Although, they do contain sweeteners (more on that below).

The oils have a lovely flavour

If you’ve tried any CBD supplements before then you may know that they taste like, you guessed it, hemp. This is a strong flavour that not everyone is going to enjoy. However, I found all of the TRIP oils to be quite tasty.

The oils come in two flavours: Wild Mint and Orange Blossom. Once again, these are both lovely and I find they leave a really lovely cooling sensation in the mouth.

However, it is worth noting that the reason they don’t taste too much of hemp is because they are made using CBD isolate, which removes a lot of the smell and taste, as well as a few other important things… More on that here.

My experience: The cons

Whilst I enjoyed consuming TRIP’s CBD products, I was pretty underwhelmed by the results. At the end of the day, you are buying their products for the CBD in them, and this is where they fall short!

I felt no effects from the CBD

In the beginning, I felt quite chilled out after taking TRIP’s CBD. To the point that I was convinced they worked. Until they didn’t. After about 3 weeks of consistently taking their high-strength CBD oil, I began feeling absolutely nothing.

My daily stress was back, it wasn’t calming down my panic attacks, and my bruxism was just as bad as before. So, I stopped buying it. I thought maybe my body had built up a tolerance. Well, that was until I got chatting to an expert in the CBD world. He was telling me about CBD isolate and how it is commonly used in CBD oils, yet it only works when used topically.

Your body simply pees most of it out. Whereas, a full-spectrum CBD oil has loads of other beneficial components of the plant that work together to create a well-rounded experience that your body can absorb. As nature intended!

High strength or not, TRIP’s CBD was all coming out in my wee. Yes, the rhyme was intended.

Therefore, it would appear that I was experiencing a somewhat pricey placebo effect! I have since been testing out a variety of full-spectrum CBD oils that contain a mixture of other key components of the cannabis plant, including terpenes and CBG. These have been working for me long-term.

Their drinks contain sweeteners

I completely understand why most drinks companies are turning to sweeteners, they contain fewer calories and brands can avoid harsh sugar taxes, but my gut doesn’t get on well with them.

Some are worse than others, and fortunately, TRIP has used stevia which I can tolerate enough to enjoy their drinks. I would personally love a variation that uses sugar, or the natural sweetness from fruit juice.

My verdict

If you are on the lookout for a well-branded and exciting CBD brand that sells tasty drinks and oils, then TRIP may well be for you. But if you are actually on the lookout for a CBD product that will aid you with sleep, anxiety, pain, and much more, then you would be better off spending your money on a full-spectrum CBD oil.
