The positives
It is clear to see that this vegan, gluten-free, and non-GMO multivitamin has been well thought out by the team at Feel. There are a range of positives that I’ve experienced when testing these for this Feel Multivitamin review, so let me take you through them.
It is well-dosed & absorbable
When it comes to ensuring that your body gets all the nutrients and vitamins it needs, you can rely on Feel’s Multivitamin. There is approximately 100% NRV of all the essentials, including iron, iodine, and selenium. Alongside these is a black pepper extract, called BioPerene®, which ensures all of the important stuff gets absorbed by your body.
It is tricky getting enough iodine on a vegan diet unless you enjoy eating seaweed daily, so it is great to see a full dose of this alongside folic acid and vitamin B12. They’ve also maintained lower doses of some ingredients, like calcium and magnesium, which you’ll easily get through your food.
These doses are great for covering all bases, or for people who struggle to eat a varied plant-rich diet.
It contains nootropics
There are plenty of vegan multivitamins to choose from, but I’m yet to find any others that also include a mix of other interesting ingredients, including nootropics and phytonutrients.
Notably, Feel’s Multivitamin contains reishi mushroom, a potentially useful ingredient for fighting daily stress and anxiety. I take reishi mushroom supplements every evening before sleep and have had great success with them. So, I welcome the inclusion of mushrooms in my vitamins!
It comes in eco-friendly packaging
Say goodbye to unnecessary plastic packaging! One of my favourite things about Feel’s Multivitamin is the cardboard tub the supplements are housed in. The tub is great for keeping your vitamins in throughout the month, and it looks pretty too.
Once you have finished just separate the aluminium from the cardboard outer tube and recycle each accordingly. It doesn’t get more easy and eco-friendly than that!
The negatives
No one supplement is perfect for every single person, so it is important to cover any negatives I have found with this multivitamin so that you can make an informed purchasing decision!
It contains a large quantity of B12
The Feel Multivitamin contains approximately 2000% of your daily recommended intake (NRV) of vitamin B12. It sounds like a lot, but it is actually one of the smallest quantities of B12 I’ve seen in a vegan supplement. Still, anything above the NRV can be a problem for a small number of people.
Most people eat plenty of food that has been fortified with vitamin B12, like nutritional yeast and vegan milk. There are also loads of other supplements that now contain B12, like nootropics, probiotics, and energy blends. It can start adding up without you even noticing! This shouldn’t be an issue for most people as they will simply pee it out.
However, I recently got my blood tested and the doctor found I had excessive amounts of B12 in my blood which has been the culprit of my recent bad health. There is no way to find this out other than by getting your blood tested. This is why I always recommend people book a test with their GP before and after taking any new supplements.
Thankfully, the Feel Multivitamin isn’t anywhere near as overdosed as other supplements. So, it is much more unlikely that any problems would arise. Just make sure to check whether any other supplements you already take contain B12.
Here is what the team at Feel have said about the B12 levels: B12 is water-soluble and generally has low toxicity, with no set upper limit. Excess B12 is easily excreted by the body. Our formula is designed with safety in mind, considering the body’s ability to handle B12. We carefully use this level to ensure the optimal dosage for your well-being.
My verdict
Feel Multivitamins are my favourite vegan multivitamins. They contain good doses of all the vital vitamins and nutrients, including B12 and Iodine, that you need in your diet.
So, if you are concerned about not getting everything you need from your food, or if you simply don’t have enough time to cook nutritious and varied meals from scratch, then I believe that Feel Multivitamins are worth buying.
They are also quite reasonably priced, especially when you consider the eco-friendly packaging and extra healthy ingredients included in the capsule, like reishi mushroom, black pepper (for absorption), and turmeric.
But please do get your blood tested after taking them for at least a few months – which I would recommend doing no matter what supplements you start taking!
