Cleaning products aren’t normally something I get excited about, but I was instantly drawn into Homethings with their bold branding and hilarious copy. Oh, and their eco-friendly credentials, of course.
This was a brand I simply had to try and I’m not at all ashamed to admit that I got pretty excited when they offered to send me a box of all their cleaning products to create this Homethings review. They are fully vegan-certified and eco-friendly to boot, a combination you’ll be hard-pressed to find in any of the cleaning products sitting on your supermarket shelves.

I bet you are looking forward to that squeaky-clean home & conscience, right?

Review summary of Homethings
It was about time that a brand came along and tackled the single-use plastic problem that is so prominent within cleaning products. Thankfully, Homethings have come to save the day with their wide range of refillable vegan-certified cleaning products. I am enjoying using these products and I’m certain you will too.
Product brand: Homethings
Editor’s rating: 4.6/5
Pros
- All their products are certified vegan
- Their cleaning bottles are refillable
- They have a wide range of cleaning products
Cons
Now that I have managed to draw you into one of the most thorough Homethings reviews, fun I know, let’s get into the nitty gritty about the brand and the reasons I am now using their products full-time as part of my cleaning routine at home.
All their products are certified vegan
I’m sure that many people will agree with me that when looking for eco-friendly products you would also expect them to be vegan-friendly. The two seem to go hand in hand. Yet this really isn’t always the case. Does anyone remember the Ecover scandal, when it was found out that they actually tested on water fleas? I do, and I remember really struggling to trust ‘vegan-friendly’ eco-cleaning brands after that.
So I was really happy to find out that Homethings has been certified vegan by The Vegan Society, the very organisation that campaigned against Ecover.
So you can rest easy knowing that your cleaning cupboard is going to be stocked up with eco-friendly refillable products that are also 100% vegan, and proud of it.
Their cleaning bottles are refillable
Homethings recognised that the majority of cleaning products that you can buy today are made up of mostly water. And shipping water requires a LOT of plastic. It may seem obvious now that this kind of offering exists, but I think they were extremely clever to come up with the idea of shipping their cleaning products without the water.
By leaving out the water from their products, they can deliver you one bottle to be reused time and time again and send tablet refills packaged in compostable material that can be mixed in with water from your tap.
They use recycled plastic bottles which can be refilled over and over again.
Just think about how much plastic you’ll be avoiding just by cutting out the use of single-use plastic cleaning products. Amazing, right?
They have a wide range of cleaning products
Something I have noticed about most of the competitors of Homethings is that they only currently supply a few cleaning products. Fortunately, Homethings has a really good range of cleaning products that will enable you to keep the whole house squeaky clean.
Here is a list of their main refillable vegan-certified cleaning product range:
- Cleaning sprays
- Dishwashing tabs
- Laundry tabs
- Washing up liquid
- Floor cleaning pods
- Magic eco sponge
My thoughts on the product
If it isn’t already glaringly obvious, I love these vegan refillable cleaning products by Homethings. I never thought I’d be saying that about cleaning products, but I really do. I love that I’ve been able to cut out all the single-use plastic in my cleaning cupboard, I love that it is all certified vegan, I love the amusing copy plastered across their packaging, and I especially love that all of it works really well. My house and kitchen are squeaky clean and they smell great!
Areas of improvement
Okay, it is time to address the elephant in the room. Some of their products still use plastic, yes. For instance, they do sell reusable plastic spray bottles and the spray triggers are made from plastic.
However, their plastic spray bottles are made from 100% recycled plastic and have been manufactured to last for a very long time. When you think of the alternative, single-use plastic cleaning products, there really is a lot less plastic that will be wasted when using Homethings in the long-run.
Unfortunately, when it comes to the trigger it looks like they really don’t have many other options than plastic, at the moment. I get the impression that companies like Homethings will always try to make improvements when and where they can.
Review conclusion
Personally, I am really excited to see just how much single-use plastic I save from going to waste. I already feel really happy knowing that the cleaning products that I am using around the home are fully vegan and eco-friendly. So the long-term wins will just add to this.
I really urge you to give Homethings a go. They have a range of starter packs and bundles that will help you begin your eco-friendly cleaning product adventure. And I am certain you won’t look back when you realise just how clean both your home and conscience can be.
Where can you buy Homethings?
At the moment, I am aware of two places where you can buy Homethings: directly from their website and via Amazon. However, I would recommend buying directly from their website to help support this small company to continue to grow and help make the world more environmentally friendly!
