These vegan dishwasher tablets are plastic-free, cruelty-free, and kind to the environment, with zero compromise on effectiveness. Expect sparkling dishes!

You don’t need to choose between squeaky clean dishes and a squeaky clean conscience, because you can have both – all thanks to these effective vegan dishwasher tablets! I’ve been testing out a variety of vegan and eco-friendly tablets in my dishwasher and these are the ones that came out tops.

You may be expecting to see the likes of Ecover on my list. They are one of the most popular ‘eco-friendly’ cleaning brands on the market but rather surprisingly they individually wrap their dishwasher tablets in single-use plastic. None of the vegan-friendly cleaning brands I mention in this guide use single-use plastic! In fact, all these vegan dishwasher tablets are entirely plastic-free, eco-friendly, and cruelty-free as standard.

My top picks

Neat vegan dishwasher tablets

Neat

  • All-in-one: Yes
  • Price: £0.25 per tablet

These lemony fresh dishwasher tablets come as small discs that easily slot into my dishwasher dispenser. Despite their smaller size, they are effective at cleaning and they made my dishes and glasses look sparkly clean – even with my harder limescale-loving water. They were also effective at cleaning particularly dirty dishes and stains.

The tablets are lemon-scented which left my dishes smelling fresh. This makes a big difference from the majority of dishwasher tablets you buy in supermarkets which often leave a chemical smell on my dishes.

Bower Collective vegan dishwasher tablets

Bower Collective

  • All-in-one: No
  • Price: £0.27 per tablet

This box of eco dishwasher tablets from Bower Collective will keep you going for a fair few months saving you unnecessary deliveries. Making these even more eco-friendly!

These are some of the only vegan dishwasher tablets that come without rinse aid and salt which is great for anyone living in soft water areas, or for anyone who already adds these separately. I tested these out in one of my family member’s dishwashers, as they live in an area with soft water, and they provided a powerful clean! Their lemon scent is also really pleasant.

Homethings vegan dishwasher tablets

Homethings

  • All-in-one: Yes
  • Price: £0.25 per tablet

I’m fortunate to work from home, which means I am often around for deliveries, but if you aren’t you may want to order some vegan dishwasher tablets that can be posted through your letterbox! Homethings have made life a lot easier by slotting their tabs into this slim package (pictured above).

I found them effective at cleaning my dishes whilst in London (hard water) but they struggled a little at my Mum’s in Suffolk (super duper hard water). Read my full Homethings review to find out more about the brand.

Ocean Saver vegan dishwasher tablets

Ocean Saver

  • All-in-one: Yes
  • Price: £0.15 per tablet

These dishwasher tablets from Ocean Saver are great value for money, particularly when you buy in bulk, but they are also really effective at cleaning my dishes. They cope well with harder water and leave very little residue on my dishes.

These tablets don’t have any particular noticeable scent to them, but they do leave your dishes smelling fresh with zero chemical smells.

Smol Vegan Dishwasher Tablets

Smol

  • All-in-one: Yes
  • Price: £0.21 per tablet

If subscriptions are your thing then look no further than Smol. They operate as subscription-only and I find their system easy to use. You can amend, delay, and cancel subscriptions pretty easily and keep track of future deliveries. They also offer a free trial of most of their products, including their vegan dishwasher tablets, so you can try them before signing up.

The tablets have been really good at cleaning my dishes and have been able to get rid of stains and grease marks that other tablets haven’t been able to.
